AUDIO SYSTEMS - Buy The Range Rover Here
For 1998, the entire Range Rover line upgrades its already outstanding sound system even further by offering a premium harman/kardon audio system as standard equipment. This system produces 300 watts through twelve speakers, including a separately amplified dual driver subwoofer, and includes a six-disc CD changer as well as a weather band.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT - Buy The Range Rover Here
Both Range Rover models are incredibly luxurious and laden with standard amenities. From the command driving position, the driver may use the power controls to adjust the ten-way leather seat, wing mirrors and even instrument panel illumination, saving the selections under one of the dual memory settings. The memory setting is linked to the keyless remote entry system so that different drivers will be recognized by their remote handset. Both driver and front -passenger ,are provided with seat heaters and inflatable lumbar support.
CHOICES - Buy The Range Rover Here
Range Rover gives both front passengers not only a choice to tailor their seat, but also their temperature. The climate control system includes dual temperature settings, capable of temperature variants of 14 degrees between driver and passenger. This system includes an automatic feature that will regulate the cabin temperature to the selected temperature. Also included is an ice warning, an electrically heated windshield and a onetouch defrost program. A full complement of gauges completes the instrument panel, with a digital display message center that features readouts for the trip computer, speed alarm and odometer.
SAFETY - Buy The Range Rover Here
All Range Rovers are protected by one of the most comprehensive security systems available. The system is perimetric and volumetric, and it monitors all locks and windows, as well as the ignition, sunroof and fuel system. The remote locking system is on a rolling code which changes each time it is activated. Should the inertia switch be tripped in the event of a collision, the security system will unlock all doors, shut off the fuel pump and activate the hazard lights. To immobilize the vehicle even further, the "Superlock" feature deadbolts the doors so they cannot be opened, even if a window is broken.
TRANSMISSION - Buy The Range Rover Here
The transmission for the 4.0 SE is an electronically-controlled ZF 4HP22 four-speed automatic with adaptive logic, revised shift control and lock up torque converter. Both the 4.0 and 4.6 models feature a "Sport" button that sets shift points higher for more responsive shifting.
ENGINE - Buy The Range Rover Here
The 4.6 HSE is more performance oriented and features a 225 bhp V-8 engine, while the 4.0 SE features a more fuel efficient 190 bhp V-8 engine. Both are of alloy block and head design with sequential injection. The output from both of these powertrains makes either Range Rover model capable of towing 7,700 pounds in low range. A tow hitch receiver that exceeds Class III standards is integrated into the frame.
SUSPENSION - Buy The Range Rover Here
Range Rover's unique and exclusive electronic air suspension allows the vehicle to ride on a cushion of air. The system has four air spring bladders, one for each corner, that inflate and provide 5.2 inches of height adjustment over five settings. Access mode lowers the vehicle for easy entry and exit; low profile is automatically selected for highway cruising; standard ride height is for comfortable around town driving; high profile allows for added ground clearance while off roading; and extended is again selected automatically when the vehicle senses high centering.
TIRES - Buy The Range Rover Here
Driver control is paramount, starting from the ground up with the 4.0 SE putting power to the pavement through 255/65HR16 Michelin M+S radial tires mounted on new 16-inch "Spyder"-style alloy wheels. The 4.6 HSE sports either low-profile Pirelli Scorpion tires or Michelin M+S radials mounted on 18-inch Mondial wheels. In keeping with Range Rover's outstanding off pavement capability, both tire designs are mud and snow rated for superior performance in less than ideal driving conditions. Many of the components that contribute to Range Rover's varied purpose capability cannot be seen. To endure the potential abuse of off pavement driving, for example, all Range Rovers feature a boxed-steel ladder-style frame with internal "Z" reinforcement. This gives Range Rover models incredible strength and contributes to their smooth ride and solid feel. Forged radius arms and an anti-roll bar control the front suspension, while the rear uses composite trailing arms that minimize body roll without impeding axle articulation.
BRAKES - Buy The Range Rover Here
The driver's inputs are directed through a variable-ratio ZF power-assisted steering unit, and braking is controlled by Wabco four-wheel four-channel anti-lock brakes. The ABS, which includes 11.7-inch vented discs and twin-piston calipers in front and 12-inch solid discs in the rear, works on and off pavement, whether the vehicle is in high or low range. Range Rover's parking brake works on the transfer case output shaft , securing all four wheels, and are not as likely to fill with mud as wheel mounted drums might. All Land Rover products use permanent four-wheel drive; Range Rover features a viscous coupling unit that allows slippage front-to-rear for tuming on dry pavement, making the system smooth enough that drivers never notice its operation. The gearing, which is controlled through the patented H-gate shifter, features a 3.27:1 low range reduction gear with a manual hold capability for climbing down steep grades or over large obstacles.
